Barge runs aground in Zambales

SAN NARCISO, Zambales, Philippines — A barge ran aground near Barangay Natividad in San Narciso, Zambales on July 25.

Strong currents snapped the towing line of the eight-crew deck loading barge “Big Ger” owned by Asian Shipping Corp.

Motor tug Healthy, which tried to tow the barge, was stranded with its 15-man crew 0.75 nautical miles from Capones Island in San Antonio, Zambales.

The grounded barge is located near the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
