2 nabbed for carjacking taxi

MANILA, Philippines — Two people who allegedly stole a taxicab from its driver in Quezon City on Thursday were arrested in Taguig.

Rolando Lozano, 48, and Isagani Agudo, 42, boarded the taxi in Lawton, Manila at around 2 a.m. and asked the driver to bring them to Barangay Teachers Village East in Quezon City.

The suspects commandeered the vehicle at knifepoint upon reaching their destination, Quezon City Police District director (QCPD) Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.

Upon conducting a dragnet operation,the QCPD received information that the taxi was spotted in Taguig.

The suspects were caught with the taxi along Chino Roces Avenue Extension in Taguig at around 6:30 a.m.

Police are preparing to charge the suspects with violating Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act before the city prosecutor’s office.
