MANILA, Philippines — A bigger space for departing overseas Filipino workers (OFW) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will be launched on Friday.

The OFW lounge is located at the NAIA Terminal 3 near Gate 7.

The San Miguel Corp. (SMC) consortium bagged the P170.6-billion public-private partnership project for the rehabilitation the country’s main gateway.

As the winning bidder, the SMC-led group will improve the NAIA complex.

The consortium will take over the operation and rehabilitation of the airport by Sept. 14.

An airport official said departing OFWs would enjoy the amenities at the new NAIA Terminal 3 lounge while waiting for their flight.
