MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government’s Law and Order Cluster has laid out security measures for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos on July 22.

In collaboration with various departments, agencies and offices, city hall personnel and resources have been allocated to support the national government’s deployment efforts.

The city government asked both pro and anti-administration demonstrators to secure permits with the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) before conducting rallies.

“Quezon City remains a bastion of democracy and free speech as we uphold every Filipino’s right to peacefully assemble. Rallyists are encouraged to police their ranks and obey the laws,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.

The Quezon City Police District will deploy 6,500 operatives to help secure the Batasang Pambasa complex.

Hundreds of personnel from the DPOS, Task Force Disiplina and barangays surrounding the SONA venue will be on standby to provide additional support.

To mitigate traffic disruptions along major thoroughfares, the local government will deploy additional traffic enforcers.

The QCity Bus will offer free rides to commuters who will be affected by road closures.

The city’s traffic management sector will release a traffic rerouting plan ahead of the SONA.
