Police continue searching for clues in Australians’ slay

MANILA, Philippines — Police have yet to identify a person of interest in the killing of two Australians and a Filipina in a hotel in Tagaytay City on Wednesday.

Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, Calabarzon region police director, said the Special Investigation Task Group David Fisk is still searching for clues to identify the man caught in a closed-circuit television footage walking along the hallway of a hotel in Barangay Maharlika West.

Surveillance cameras showed the man wearing a hoodie inside and outside the hotel.

“It (investigation) is still ongoing,” Lucas said when asked if they have already identified the man.

The victims – a 57-year-old Australian, his 55-year-old Filipino wife and her 30-year-old daughter – were found in a room with their hands and feet bound and their mouths covered with packaging tape.

Lt. Col. Charles Daven Capagcuan, Tagaytay police chief, said the Australian had wounds on the neck while the other victims had no visible injuries.

Investigators have yet to establish the motive behind the killing.
