Cop wounded in action cited

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A policeman wounded in an anti-drug operation in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi has received financial assistance and citation from the Bangsamoro police.

Pat. Abdulmijir Usman Kali Jr. received a medal for gallantry, special appreciation plaque and cash assistance while being treated for gunshot wounds at the West Metro Medical Center in Zamboanga City.

Kali was among the policemen responding to reports about the presence of drug suspects in a market in Bongao when a shootout erupted on Friday.

Th firefight resulted in the death of two drug suspects and wounding of Kali.

Bangsamoro police director Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn pinned the medal on Kali and handed him the assistance and the plaque.

Kali was first rushed to a medical dispensary in Bongao and was transferred to a modern hospital in Zamboanga City for further treatment.
