Makati receives highest audit rating anew from COA

MANILA, Philippines — For the seventh straight year, the Makati government has earned an “unmodified opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA), Mayor Abby Binay announced yesterday.

“We did it again! The COA opinion validates our unwavering commitment to good governance and its hallmarks, particularly transparency and accountability,” Binay said in a statement.

The audit result was relayed by COA National Capital Region Director IV Maria Carmina Paulita Juguilon-Pagayawan.

An unmodified or unqualified opinion is given to local government units when the state auditor concludes that the “financial statements are prepared in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.”

Binay lauded the departments, offices and institutions of the city government for their strict compliance with COA policies.
