Road rage suspect hunted

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities are hunting down a driver of a pickup truck who reportedly opened fire at a vehicle in what police said was another road rage case in Quezon City on Tuesday.

Probers said they have yet to identify the suspect, who was driving a Nissan Navara when he hit a Toyota Vios sedan along Quezon Avenue in Barangay Doña Josefa at around 6 p.m.

The six people in the car, including two minors, came from España Boulevard in Manila and were on their way home to Quezon City when the pickup truck hit their vehicle’s side mirror.

Instead of stopping, the pickup truck sped off, which prompted the driver of the car to chase the vehicle.

The car’s driver blocked the pickup truck at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Banawe street.

The suspect maneuvered his vehicle and alighted from the pickup truck.

He pulled out a handgun and repeatedly fired at the car before fleeing.

A passenger of the car, a 38-year-old woman, suffered a gunshot wound and was brought to a hospital for treatment.

A bullet casing from a firearm of unknown caliber was recovered at the scene.

Police investigators said they are reviewing closed-circuit television footage for leads on the suspect’s identity.
