MANILA, Philippines — A ranking official of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) yesterday asked the public to continue conserving water despite the continued increase in the level of Angat Dam.
In a message to The STAR, MWSS Water and Sewerage Management Department manager Patrick Dizon noted that despite its improvement, the water elevation of Angat Dam remains below its minimum operating level.
At 8 a.m. on Friday, the water level of the reservoir increased for the second consecutive day, reaching 176.11 meters or 0.21 meters more compared to its previous level of 175.9 meters.
The water level of Angat Dam is still 33.89 meters below its normal high water level of 210 meters and 3.89 meters below its minimum operating level of 180 meters.
“Rains continue to be experienced in the watersheds and it slows down the decrease in the water level of our reservoir,” he said.
Dizon added that while MWSS does not prevent the holding of tradition following the Wattah Wattah Festival in San Juan, he reiterated the responsible use of water in Metro Manila.
