Fires hit Parañaque, Las Piñas, Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Fires broke out in the cities of Parañaque, Las Piñas and Manila on Sunday, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

In Parañaque, the BFP said the fire started in Barangay San Dionisio at 11:38 a.m.

The fire reached second alarm before it was declared under control at around 12:40 p.m.

Twelve firetrucks responded to the fire, which broke out in Barangay Ilaya, Las Piñas at 10:56 a.m.

Firefighters put out the blaze at around 12:15 a.m.

No one was reported injured in both incidents.

Arson investigators said they have yet to determine what caused the fire.

In Manila, at least 60 families or 180 people were left homeless when a fire struck a residential area in Tondo on Sunday night.

Aljay Valderama, 29, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Damage to property was placed at P1.6 million.
