30 areas to experience danger heat index despite rains
MANILA, Philippines — Thirty areas in the country may experience ”danger” level heat index despite monsoon rains, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said temperatures would range between 42 to 45 degrees Celsius.
The state weather bureau warned the public of heat cramps and heat exhaustion as well as heat stroke with continued exposure.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will continue to affect parts of the country today.
PAGASA said Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi would experience scattered rains.
Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
PAGASA declared the onset of the rainy season on May 29 with the prevalence of the southwest monsoon and the passage of Typhoon Aghon.
The agency said fewer provinces are expected to be affected by drought in the coming months.
