HPG probes motorist’s ‘escort for hire’ service
MANILA, Philippines — A motorist is under investigation following her viral post that she was assisted by a Highway Patrol Group (HPG) personnel “hired” by her husband to get out of traffic.
The HPG said it has started its probe on the motorist and vowed it would file criminal complaints against her should her statement turn out to be false.
“We will file the necessary cybercrime related offenses to those individuals who will post any malicious statements that will malign/tarnish the image of the HPG,” it said in a statement.
The woman posted a photograph of an HPG motorcycle rider, saying he was her escort through heavy traffic along an expressway.
“How can I settle for less when my husband hired a HPG escort para lang hindi ako ma-traffic,” she said.
Should it be proven the police officer was indeed hired by the motorist’s husband, he could face criminal and administrative cases.
“The HPG clearly states that we will not tolerate any involvement in, or endorsement of, escort for hire services,” it said.
