Missing Bilibid inmate found
MANILA, Philippines — An inmate who went missing on Wednesday was found hiding inside one of the facilities at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa yesterday.
Jonathan Villamor, who is serving time at the NBP’s medium security compound, was found at Site Harry, formerly known as the Alternative Learning System Basic Literacy Program School, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
Villamor was reported missing during the final headcount conducted by a corrections officer at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
After 11 hours of searching, he was found at Site Harry, which is also located at the NBP’s medium security compound.
The BuCor did not say what prompted Villamor to hide.
Following the incident, Bucor chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. ordered corrections officers to conduct a visual inspection every five minutes, especially among inmates who are tasked to undertake agricultural work.
“In that case, we will be able to track them immediately to know their whereabouts if they are not on their designated work assignments,” Catapang said.
