MANILA, Philippines — There has been an increase in COVID cases in Manila over the past week, the city government reported yesterday.

On May 24 alone, there were 28 active cases, with five new patients reported, Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said.

Last week, the city government recorded an average of nine to 10 new cases a day, she said during a Facebook Live broadcast.

Lacuna-Pangan also declared the city government has “no more available” COVID vaccines.

She noted that four friends told her their parents currently have COVID.

Lacuna-Pangan advised her constituents to keep wearing face masks, especially when going to crowded areas, practice frequent handwashing and observe physical distancing to avoid contracting COVID.

Previously, the Department of Health declared that the new COVID-19 variants collectively known as “FLiRT” have “no evidence they cause severe to critical COVID-19.”
