ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The naval forces in Western Mindanao has a new commander.

Commodore Francisco Tagamolila Jr. took over as head of the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) during a change of command ceremony at the Romulo Espaldon Naval Station on Thursday.

Tagamolila replaced Rear Admiral Donn Anthony Miraflor who reached the mandatory age of retirement.

Miraflor is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sambisig Class of 1991.

Tagamolila was former commander of the Naval Forces Northern Luzon and a member of the PMA Tanglaw-Diwa Class of 1992.

Prior to his new assignment, Tagamolila served as deputy commander of Naval Forces West based in Palawan.

Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr. conferred the Philippine Legion of Honor to Miraflor in recognition of his leadership at the NFWM.

“I am confident Miraflor is passing on the torch to an equally capable and steadfast naval leader,” Adaci said.
