DPWH completes Aurora road project

MANILA, Philippines — The government has completed concreting an access road connecting far-flung communities to the town proper of Baler, Aurora.

Roseller Tolentino, chief of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Central Luzon, said the newly upgraded two-lane road in Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Zabali would serve as an all-weather access route to comunities located in the eastern hinterlands of Baler.

Implemented by the DPWH-Aurora district engineering office, Tolentino said the 959-meter-long, 6.1-meter-wide access road would make travel to the town center easier.

Aside from bringing healthcare, education and employment opportunities closer to residents of Sitio Ilaya, the access road will allow faster transport of goods to and from the community.

“The newly improved road is expected to boost economic activities in the area and uplift the quality of life of the residents,” Tolentino said.

The project cost P28.21 million and was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act.
