MANILA, Philippines — The rehabilitation of the Kamuning flyover is being fast-tracked to finish before the start of the rainy season, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The contractor – identified on the DPWH website as Alphatec Chemical Corp. – is conducting 24-hour work while additional jackhammers have been deployed to finish the retrofitting in less than six months, Lorie Malaluan, DPWH-National Capital Region director, said in a dzBB interview.

Malaluan said that the rainy season would be a big problem to them if the rehabilitation of the Kamuning flyover is not completed earlier than the deadline.

“We will do our best to have it opened to the motorists before the October deadline,” Malaluan said.

Malaluan earlier advised motorists to avoid passing through the Kamuning flyover and instead use the alternate routes in Quezon Avenue, Mother Ignacia Avenue and others.

The Kamuning flyover has been closed to traffic since May 1, resulting in traffic jams in the area.
