BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A man, who stabbed his live-in partner, died after falling from a building while fleeing the police along Kayang Street of Baguio City Public Market.

The suspect, whose identity was withheld, was 37 years old while the victim is 46 years old. The partners are employees of two different food establishments in the city.

Baguio police said that the man was irked after his partner went home late to their apartment. He stabbed his partner on the shoulders and chest.

The commotion prompted their neighbors to call policemen who were just a few meters from the area.

When the police arrived, the suspect fled and climbed up to the roof deck of a five-storey building, attempting to jump onto the roof of another building.

The man's attempt to land on the other side was unsuccessful, resulting in a fatal fall to the ground in the dark.

Meanwhile, the victim who was stabbed was sent home after treatment.

Police added that this was not the first time that the man hurt his partner.
