Internet personality ‘Diwata’ nabbed, posts bail
MANILA, Philippines —The owner of the viral food stall Diwata pares overload and social media personality “Diwata” was arrested in Pasay on Tuesday in connection with the slight physical injury case filed against him in 2018.
Armed with a warrant, Pasay police chief Mario Mayames Jr. said Diwata, whose real name is Deo Balbuena, was nabbed along Diokno Boulevard in Barangay 76.
Diwata was the subject of the arrest warrant issued by Judge Allan Ariola of the Pasay Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 48 on Oct. 3, 2018.
Diwata was released after he posted bail of P3,000.
“Yes, he was arrested, but he posted bail,” Mayames told The STAR in a text message. “His case is bailable so he was released on the same day (of his arrest).”
Diwata gained popularity after his pares food stall became viral on social media.
