Village exec slain in Maguindanao del Sur attack
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A village councilor was killed in an attack by motorcycle-riding men in Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday.
Ansari Salim, 38, kagawad of Barangay Pimbalkan, died at the scene of the attack that occurred in Sitio Dakamuya.
Salim’s companion, S/Sgt. Mansor Siango, was not harmed in the attack.
Reports said Salim and Siango were in a pick-up truck when the assailants waylaid them at around 3:40 p.m. They were reportedly on their way home from Barangay Tukanalipao.
Salim died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said that before fleeing, the assailants took Salim’s personal belongings and the service firearm of Siango.
Responding police officers recovered several bullet shells of a still unknown firearm at the scene of the ambush.
