MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman was ranked as the country’s top university for its research performance, non-academic prominence and the impact of recognized alumni, according to independent ranking site EduRank.org.

EduRank, which rates universities worldwide based on self-collected data and metric-based analysis, also ranked UP-Diliman as 374th best in Asia and 1,367th in the world.

UP-Diliman was recognized for publishing 8,902 scientific papers and being cited in nearly 100,000 papers.

UP-Diliman was followed by De La Salle University (DLSU), Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas (UST) and UP Los Baños (UPLB).

DLSU was ranked 507th in Asia, followed by Ateneo at 565th spot, UST at 836th and UPLB at 869th.

Globally, DLSU was ranked 1,752nd best, AdMU at 1,931st, UST at 2,652nd and UPLB at 2,761st.

The rest of the universities that landed in the Philippines’ Top 10 were UP Manila, University of San Carlos in Cebu, Asian Institute of Management, Mapua University and Mindanao State University in Marawi.

Universities are scored based on their research performance (45 percent), non-academic reputation (45 percent) and the impact of their alumni (10 percent).
