MANILA, Philippines —  Three persons are facing criminal charges following their arrest in Pasay City for allegedly using the name of First Lady Liza Marcos in extorting P5 million from a businessman.

The suspected swindlers identified as Francisco Ouna, 48; Joselito Agtuca 46, and German Reveza, 42, were charged with robbery and extortion before the city prosecutor’s office.

Operatives of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group apprehended the suspects in an entrapment inside a commercial building along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard on Monday, CIDG director Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said.

Caramat said a businessman sought the CIDG’s assistance after Ouna, also known as alias Isko, allegedly threatened to have his emission testing and medical business shut down if he would not give the suspects P5 million in protection money.

“This Isko claimed that the group has connections with First Lady Liza Marcos,” Caramat said.
