COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A dump truck rolled down a hill in New Bataan, Davao de Oro on Tuesday, leaving three passengers dead.
The New Bataan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and local police identified the fatalities as Marjin Alagon, Peo Mesiona and Samuel Painandos, who reportedly hitched a ride on the dump truck.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the wheel as the brake malfunctioned, according to initial reports.
The driver of the dump truck and two other hitchikers were injured.
The municipal government has assured the families of the fatalities of burial assistance.
