COTABATO CITY — Investigators are still trying to make sense of how a member of the police’s Maritime Unit died from a gunshot wound in the head while in a house in Zamboanga City, his service pistol beside him, its ammunition magazine detached.
Probers from the Zamboanga City Police Office cannot conclude yet if the 25-year-old Patrolman Abdulazis Mukiram had intentionally shot himself in the head on Thursday morning while inside a house along Aquino Drive in Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City.
Officials of the Zamboanga City PO were quoted in radio reports on Thursday afternoon, hinting that there is a possibility that Mukiram could have accidentally shot himself in the head.
Police forensic experts reportedly found a fired 9 millimeter shell close to his cadaver, identical with the live rounds in the magazine of his service pistol.
The Zamboanga City PO had reportedly asked for enough time to put together the pieces of what is for investigators a seeming jigsaw on the still shady death of Mukiram, who was born and raised in Tawi-Tawi province in the Bangsamoro region. — With reports from Rosette Adel
