MANILA, Philippines —  Sen. Bong Go attended the inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony of a Super Health Center in Barangay Toril Proper in Davao City on Tuesday.

In his speech, Go said the event highlights the government’s dedication to make essential services more accessible, especially in regions where healthcare resources are limited.

The senator reiterated his commitment to support the establishment of more Super Health Centers across the country, saying these can significantly help reduce hospital occupancy rates while bringing government medical services closer to the grassroots.

Go said Super Health Centers are designed to focus on primary care as well as consultation and early detection.

He said free consultations would be handled by municipal health offices, local government units and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. through its Konsulta program.

The Super Health Center is an enhanced version of a rural health unit. It is a one-stop shop, offering basic health services such as database management, outpatient care, birthing facilities, isolation areas, diagnostic services (including laboratory tests, x-rays, and ultrasounds), pharmacy services and ambulatory surgical units.

The center provides eye, ear, nose, and throat care;  oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation centers, and telemedicine.

Go said sufficient funds have been allocated for 307 Super Health Centers in 2022 and 322 in 2023.

In Davao City, he said 11 Super Health Centers are funded.
