P35.4 million shabu seized in Zamboanga, Iloilo stings

MANILA, Philippines —  Shabu with an estimated street value of P35.4 million was seized in anti-narcotics operations in Zamboanga City and Iloilo on Wednesday.

Authorities said Ben Basaluddin, Nadzmar Abdul and his wife Noralyn and Wajil Jala were arrested for possession of four kilos of shabu stashed in Chinese tea bags valued at P27.5 million in a sting in Barangay Calarian in Zamboanga City.

In Iloilo City, police said shabu worth P7.9 million was confiscated from “high- value” targets Erwin Guillergan, 28, and Kim Jaena, 40, in Barangay Ingore in La Paz district.

Capt. Glenn Soliman, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit team leader, said the seized illegal drugs may be distributed during the Dinagyang Festival.

In Bacolod City, two men known only by their aliases of Christian and Lance were arrested yesterday for alleged possession of 157 grams of shabu worth P1.07 million.

Elmer Cabala, 42, and two 16-year-old boys were apprehended for reportedly yielding shabu worth P1.1 million in Barangay Mambulac in Silay City, Negros Occidental. – Emmanuel Tupas, Gilbert Bayoran
