3 dead in Davao de Oro landslide

MANILA, Philippines — Three members of a family were buried in a landslide in Purok 3, Barangay Paloc in Maragusan, Davao de Oro on Tuesday.

The fatalities were identified as Lucita Emejio, 58; her husband Jesus, 59; and their grandson Benjie, 7.

Municipal information officer Romeo Tublag Jr. said the incident occurred at 3 a.m., but it was only later in the morning that it was discovered that the house of the victims was buried in the landslide.

Rescuers tried to revive the child, who still had a pulse when they arrived, but he was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
