BAGUIO CITY, Philippines —  With the approval of the Metro Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) Council, Kennon Road has been reopened to motorists.

Only vehicles weighing 10 tons and below as well as public utility vehicles plying the Baguio-Rosario route have been allowed to use Kennon Road since Dec. 24. A speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour has been imposed.

Traffic personnel have been manning the road around the clock to direct and monitor the traffic situation.

In an advisory, the BLISTT Council chaired by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the decision to reopen Kennon Road was approved during a meeting on Dec. 21 after discussing the post-inspection report of the Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Kennon on the viability of reopening the route.

“Full reopening of Kennon Road... will result in multiple benefits that include comfort and convenience of motorists, cost and time savings, decongestion of alternate roads and reinvigorated economic activity along the route,” the council said.
