Man with handgun nabbed at Port of Ormoc

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested at the Port of Ormoc for allegedly carrying a handgun late last week, according to the Philippine Ports Authority.

The PPA did not identify the man who was caught in possession of a .38-caliber pistol, but said that the incident took place a few days before Christmas when they expected an increased volume of passengers at the port.

He was turned over to the custody of the Ormoc City police station.

In a statement, the PPA said the man was found to have brought the gun inside the Passenger Terminal Building of the Port of Ormoc.

The firearm was detected when the man’s belongings passed through the baggage X-ray machine.
