MANILA, Philippines — A 62-year-old man died and six others were injured in two vehicular accidents in Quezon City, police said yesterday.
The fatality was Jose Villareal, who died after he was hit by a vehicle in Barangay Novaliches Proper on Wednesday night.
Police investigators said Villareal was standing at the corner of Buenamar street and Petronia Subdivision when he was hit by a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Christian Prudencio.
Bystanders brought the victim to the Novaliches General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police took Prudencio into custody on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Meanwhile, six people were injured in a multiple vehicular crash along Elliptical Road before dawn yesterday.
Reports said a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by Dennis Arn Carino counter-flowed and hit two motorcycles along the major thoroughfare in Barangay Vasra.
The SUV rammed three more vehicles as it reached the corner of Maharlika street in Barangay Old Capitol Site.
Carino is being held on charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
