MANILA, Philippines — Former Philippine National Police chief and now Sen. Ronald dela Rosa yesterday pushed for the responsible use of firearms during a gun show at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay.

In his speech, Dela Rosa said gun owners should also be prepared to use their firearms when called upon to defend the country from invasion.

Sen. Mark Villar also attended the 29th Defense and Sporting Arms Show.

In a bid to crack down on loose firearms, Dela Rosa urged gun owners to get their license.

He is pushing for the registration of firearms to prevent the proliferation of unlicensed guns, which are used to commit crimes.

Dela Rosa said he also advocates for an amnesty program on loose firearms to compel owners to register their guns.
