MANILA, Philippines — Domestic workers or kasambahay who are employed in the National Capital Region (NCR) may get an increase in their monthly pay soon.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) reported that the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in NCR has set a public hearing on minimum wage adjustment for domestic workers at the Philippine Trade Training Center from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today.
The last wage increase of P1,000 for domestic workers was approved in June 2022 by the RTWPB-NCR. It brought the current monthly minimum wage of domestic workers in the region to P6,000.
There are about 200,000 kasambahay working in Metro Manila.
The RTWPBs in other regions have approved pay increases for kasambahay along with other minimum wage earners.
