5 die in Luzon road mishaps

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines —Five persons died in separate vehicular accidents in Olongapo and Kalinga on Sunday night.

Among the fatalities were the driver and his three passengers, whose vehicle collided with a truck in Barangay New Cabalan, Olongapo City, according to Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., Central Luzon police director.

The other fatality was a woman, who was on a motorcycle that was hit by a bus in Barangay Lacnog East in Tabuk City.

Robie Renz Tui and his passengers Veronica Ng, Romnick Tui and an alias Balong were declared dead on arrival at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.

Reports said truck driver Domingo Firmo lost control of the wheel, causing him to hit the victims’ vehicle.

Firmo was taken to the police station for questioning.

Meanwhile, in Kalinga, Joy Alos was on a motorcycle with her husband and two children when they were hit by a bus in Barangay Lacnog East, Tabuk.

Alos was declared dead on arrival in a hospital, where her husband and children were also taken for treatment.

The bus driver, whose name was not immediately available, told probers that he was avoiding another motorcycle, causing him to hit the victims.
