‘Arrogant’ lawman in traffic row identified
MANILA, Philippines — A policeman assigned to the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) was the motorcycle rider who was allegedly arrogant during a traffic altercation with another motorist in Quezon City last Monday.
Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, identified the police officer as Senior M/Sgt. Sahdire Ganotice, a personnel of the PSPG, a unit based at Camp Crame.
Maranan said they are preparing a complaint against Ganotice for reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property before the city
prosecutor’s office.
Ganotice was the driving a Yamaha Nmax motorcycle when he figured in a traffic altercation with a Joyride rider along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Talipapa at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
Rayou Carbonel, the Joyride rider’s passenger, said Ganotice rammed into them, damaging his rider’s motorcycle and leaving him with a laceration on his foot.
When confronted, Ganotice took out an identification card and introduced himself as a policeman, according to Carbonel.
“Oh, ito ang ID ko. Anong magagawa mo (This is my ID. What can you do)?” Carbonel quoted the unidentified rider as saying.
Ganotice sped off but Carbonel and the rider followed him and took a photograph of the policeman.
“We appreciate the public’s vigilance in reporting such incidents and urge everyone to continue cooperating with the law enforcement
agencies to maintain safety on our roads,” Maranan said.
