Pay hike seen for Western Visayas workers
MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners in Western Visayas are possibly the next to receive an increase in their daily take-home pay.
This developed after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) set public hearings on petitions for adjustment in the minimum wage rate in the region.
The RTWPB in Western Visayas will conduct a hearing on Oct. 5 on the petitions for salary increase for workers in private establishments including house helpers, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The hearing, which will be held in separate venues, will be conducted simultaneously online and in-person.
“Interested parties may confirm physical or virtual attendance on or before Sept. 29,” the DOLE said.
Earlier, the wage board set a series of public hearings on similar petitions for workers in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan).
The DOLE said that salary increases have been granted to minimum wage earners in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Central Visayas and the National Capital Region.
