Top cop found positive for drugs faces raps
MANILA, Philippines — An administrative complaint has been filed against a ranking police official who was sacked from his post after he tested positive for drug use.
Former Mandaluyong police chief Col. Cesar Gerente had been found to be using drugs, based on the results of the examination on his urine samples.
“We filed an administrative case of conduct unbecoming of a police officer against Gerente,” Eastern Police District director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta said.
If the confirmatory drug test on his urine samples will show the same result, Gerente will be dismissed from the service as using illegal drugs is a grave offense in the police force, according to Asueta.
Gerente was among the 61 police officers who underwent drug tests at the National Capital Region Police Office on Aug. 24.
After testing positive for drugs, Gerente was relieved from his post. He was replaced by Col. Grace Madayag.
