MANILA, Philippines — A scavenger was arrested in Valenzuela City on Monday for allegedly violating the election-related gun ban, police reported yesterday.

Joseph Rubio, 33, was apprehended in a subdivision in Barangay Paso de Blas at around 3:30 a.m.

Seized from the suspect was a .22-caliber handgun loaded with five bullets.

Police investigators said a concerned citizen informed police about Rubio, who was acting suspicious in the subdivision. The firearm was found on Rubio’s person.

Complaints for illegal possession of a firearm and violation of the nationwide gun ban were filed against the suspect.
