Cardinal to get honorary doctorate
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula is set to be conferred an honorary doctorate degree in humanities by the San Beda University (SBU) on Wednesday.
The 71-year-old archbishop will be given the degree coinciding with SBU’s commencement exercises at the Philippine International Convention Center.
This is not the first time that Advincula had been given an honorary degree.
Last June 3, De La Salle University (DLSU) conferred an honorary doctorate degree of philosophy in applied theology on Advincula.
Advincula obtained his master’s degree in education, major in guidance and counseling from DLSU.
In his address, he urged DLSU students to be saints and evangelizers in today’s world.
He also encouraged them to be “to be agents of listening,” saying that “much of the world’s difficulties can be solved or surpassed if we listen.”
