Improvised bombs recovered in Quezon town

Michelle Zoleta - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Five improvised explosive devices were recovered in Barangay Kigtan in Calauag, Quezon on Monday.

Joint police and military ordnance experts who responded to the reported presence of explosives in the area found a black bag, which contained the bombs.

The explosives were believed hidden by New People’s Army rebels.

”The insurgency-free status in our province did not stop with a mere declaration. We will continue to safeguard our province against any traces of evil brought about by leftist adversaries,” Col. Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, said in his report.

The entire province of Quezon was declared cleared of communist rebels last month.
