New Calapan bishop named

MANILA, Philippines — Pope Francis has appointed the youngest Catholic prelate in the country, Moises Cuevas, as the new bishop of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines said the 49-year-old Cuevas would replace Bishop Warlito Cajandi.
The Pope “liberated” Cajandi last year after 33 years in the post for health reasons.
The apostolic vicariate of Calapan covers Oriental Mindoro, with six parishes and mission areas that also serve Mangyan communities.
Cuevas is currently the administrator of the archdiocese of Zamboanga.
