Cop tagged in radioman’s killing

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A police major and his associate in local peryahan games are said to be behind the killing of a radio commentator in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro last week.

Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) executive director Paul Gutierrez said the two, whom he did not identify, would be asked to shed light on the gun attack that killed Cresenciano Bundoquin.

He said local peryahan games reportedly closed when the victim exposed these in his radio program.

Gutierrez said the family of Bundoquin believes there are other people involved in the crime.

He said there are three other persons of interest in the case.

The PTFoMS said the task force created to investigate the incident would file murder charges against Isabelo Bautista, 45, who was identified as the gunman.

It said the probe would not end with the filing of murder charges.

“What justice secretary (Crispin Remulla) wants to happen in this instance is that all possible motives and angles should be investigated, and that based on solid evidence, all those involved in the attack on Bundoquin should be identified and prosecuted,” Gutierrez said.
