MANILA, Philippines — The immunization drive against measles-rubella (MR) and polio is extended until June 15.
“The campaign is extended to ensure that manpower complementation for local government units will be sustained and social mobilization shall be ramped up,” the Department of Health (DOH) said in an advisory issued late Wednesday.
“We need to ensure that all other targeted children will be vaccinated,” it said.
As of May 30, the DOH said 7,541,867 children aged nine months to five years had been vaccinated against MR. This is 77.72 percent of the 9.5 million children eligible for vaccination.
Up to 2,188,891 children aged zero to five received oral polio vaccines.
The DOH said the figures represent 67.87 percent of the 11.5 million children targeted for vaccination.
