MANILA, Philippines — Residents of the islands of Guimaras, Panay and Negros are up in arms over a series of power outages of up to 12 hours since Thursday.
In several advisories, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said the power interruptions were due to a “system disturbance that affects the Visayas grid.”
Netizens said power was restored in most parts of Iloilo and Capiz on Friday night, but was cut again yesterday morning.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the NGCP should provide an explanation for the power outages.
“We need to understand why these happen, what is being done to resolve the issue and what measures are being taken to prevent future outages,” Treñas said.
