3 slain in Calbayog shooting
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — Three persons were killed and two others were wounded in a gun attack in Calbayog City in Samar on Friday.
Construction worker Vicente Luzon Jr., 45; Grade 8 student Rachel Ann Belino, 14, and habal-habal driver Angelo Lustico, 43, died at the scene.
Lane Dealagdon, 31, and barangay secretary Emy Casaljay were wounded and taken to the Calbayog District Hospital for treatment.
Initial investigation showed the victims were on a habal-habal and in a tricycle locally known as timbol when unidentified men opened fire in Barangay Hamorawon.
Probers said the incident occurred when the timbol pulled over as one of the passengers said he wanted to urinate by the roadside. The habal-habal was passing at the time.
Witnesses said the assailants fled on foot.
