DOH to immunize 11 million children vs measles, polio
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is targeting to administer measles and polio vaccines to over 11 million children below five years old next month, an official said yesterday.
The DOH said 11,108,115 children aged 0 to 59 months are being eyed for oral polio vaccination. Of the number, 9,509,585 children aged 9 to 59 months are targeted for measles-rubella vaccines.
DOH National Capital Region medical officer Dr. Hope Bautista said they are looking to administer oral polio vaccines to 1,188,449 children while 1,010,783 kids are targeted for measles and rubella vaccines.
Bautista said the immunization campaign would be held from May 1 to 31.
“Our objective is to have at least 95 percent of parents have their children immunized against measles and polio,” she said.
