New Camiguin town mayor assumes post

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Sagay town in Camiguin has a new mayor.

Vice Mayor Joseph Uayan took his oath as mayor and Sangguniang Bayan member Niel John Yangco as vice mayor before Camiguin Rep. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo on Monday.

The vice mayor took over the post under the rule of succession following the death of his brother Richard Uayan, who suffered a heart attack.

Ma. Corazon Cimacio, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Camiguin director as well as barangay, municipal and provincial government officials and other stakeholders witnessed the oathtaking ceremony.
