MANILA, Philippines — Eight policemen are facing criminal and administrative complaints in connection with the killing of three persons in an alleged shootout in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat last December.
The National Bureau of Investigation-Central Mindanao office filed the complaints against Maj. Jenahmeel Toñacao, Senior M/Sgt. Syril Mahaddi, Cpls. Elpedio Garlit and Jeoffrey Apalla and Patrolmen Nicol Toreja, Basser Mako, Mario Rombaoa and Roldan Claveria on Wednesday.
Samanoden Ali, 19; Horton Ansa Jr., 19, and Arshad Ansa, 20, allegedly evaded a checkpoint in Purok 4, Barangay Didtaras and shot it out with pursuing lawmen.
Police said the fatalities were found in possession of two guns, a hand grenade, bullets and shabu.
The families of the victims denied the allegations, noting that the three had no record of violence or drugs.
