Tricycle driver shot dead in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A tricycle driver was killed by a still unidentified assailant in Tondo, Manila shortly after midnight yesterday.

Rolly Marquez, 42, was driving his tricycle when a motorcycle-riding man clad in black shirt blocked the victim’s path and opened fire, based on closed-circuit television footage.

The suspect fled toward Raja Matanda street then abandoned his motorcycle at the corner of Ylaya and Carmen Palanas streets.

Police said they recovered two empty shells of unknown gun caliber at the scene.

Probers have yet to determine the suspect’s identity and the motive for the killing.
