MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go reiterated the importance of investing more in the Philippines’ public health sector as he witnessed the groundbreaking of a Super Health Center (SHC) in Malvar, Batangas the other day.
In his speech, Go recognized the local officials of Malvar, including Mayor Cristeta Reyes, Vice Mayor Alberto Lat and Rep. Maitet Collantes as well as and the Department of Health, for their efforts in ensuring the construction of an SHC in the town.
Go, chairman of the Senate committee on health and demography, has been instrumental in ensuring that funds were allocated for the construction of 307 SHCs nationwide.
He had also pushed for additional funds under this year’s budget to support the construction of 322 other SHCs.
Go said in an ambush interview after the event.
