MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and isolated rains will welcome the first day of 2023, as the northeast monsoon or amihan and shearline continue to affect parts of the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line is affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon.

The weather system will bring scattered rains over Bicol and Quezon province.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rain over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga and Aurora.

It will bring light rain over Ilocos and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon, but with no significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
